This song is about the Isle of Wight festival that began in the late 60’s. French music also lived a short hippie period, influenced by the musical and political climate in the UK and in America. The title of the song can also be seen as a parodic reference to the Los Bravos song, Black is black, covered by Johnny Halliday in his famous song Noir, c’est noir.
- Wight is Wight
- Dylan is Dylan
- Wight is Wight
- Viva Donovan
- C’est comme un soleil
- Dans le gris du ciel
- Wight is Wight
- Hippie, hippie-pie…
- Hippie-pie…
- Hippie-pie…
- Ils sont arrivés dans l’île nue
- Sans un bagage et les pieds nus
- Comme un cyclone inattendu
- Comme une fleur avant la saison
- Comme une pluie de papillons
- À laquelle on n’a jamais cru
[Refrain]
- Toi qui as voulu t’emprisonner
- As-tu le droit de condamner
- Celui qui cherche à s’évader
- Chacun mène sa vie comme il veut
- Tu ne peux plus baisser les yeux
- Car aussi vrai que tu es né…
[Refrain] x 2
- Wight is Wight
- Dylan is Dylan
- Wight is Dylan
- Viva Donovan
- It’s like a sun
- In the grey sky
- Wight is Wight
- Hippie, hippie-pie…
- Hippie-pie…
- Hippie-pie…
- They came in the naked island
- Without a luggage and with bare feet
- Like an unexpected cyclone
- Like a flower before the season
- Like a rain of butterflies
- To which people never believed
[Chorus]
- You who wanted to emprison yourself
- Are you entitled to condemn
- The one who wants to escape
- Everyone leads his life in his own way
- You can’t look down anymore
- Because just like you were born…
[Chorus] x2
