• C’était un samedi soir, je n’arrivais pas à dormir
• Je m’étais levé et j’avais marché de ma ville jusqu’à la gare
• Je pouvais voir les lumières bleues des appareils de télévision au travers des fenêtres de la ville
• Près du kiosque à journaux, devant la salle attente
• J’hésitais à entrer, comme si ma vie allait changer d’un coup
• Qui étaient tous ces gens ?
• Je ne savais s’ils partaient, s’ils arrivaient
• Peut-être étaient-ils très tristes ou alors très gais
• De retrouver quelqu’un qu’ils aimaient
• Un type me fit comme un signe
• Comme pour me décider à rentrer dans la gare
• Il me dit :
• “Je suis fatigué, j’ai voyagé toute ma vie et je voudrais m’arrêter.
• Mon train part dans une heure
• S’il vous plaît, continuez mon voyage
• Je veux rester ici dans cette ville
• Connaître une maison
• Le café que l’on boit le matin dans la même tasse que la veille
• Donnez-moi vos clés d’appartement
• Et j’vous donne mes billets de voyage
• Une heure d’attente, et vous ne serez plus le même.”
• Moi qui rêvais jusque-là aux mots magiques de toutes les villes du monde,
• J’hésitai un instant, puis j’acceptai l’étrange proposition.

• An hour of waiting, and you won’t be the same anymore.”
• Me who dreamed until then to the magical words of all the cities in the world,
• I hesitated a minute, then I accepted the strange proposition.
