One of the very best in my opinion. Alain Bashung (1947-2009) began to be famous in the 1980’s and became a very influent figure in French rock. He even had one of his albums written with Serge Gainsbourg ! His career is punctuated by several hits, but he’s generally quite unknown to the large public. Throughout his career, he made several albums that are considered classics, and explorated several styles with talent, though not always with commercial success. Given the quality of his last album, before he died of a cancer in 2009, he could have graced us with way more great music.
