Charles Aznavour (1924-2018) is probably one of the most famous French singers ever, and he truly deserves it. Born in Paris of Armenian parents, he apparently contributed to hide and rescue many people (Jews, Armenians…) during the Occupation. He began to be famous in the 1950s, and his success never really diminished since. His songs are mainly about love, but he also talked about various other things, and always with a touch of melancholia that makes him really unique and that should’nt let you indifferent. He is also the original singer (and co-writer) of the song “She”, later covered by Elvis Costello, that appeared (both versions) in the famous movie Notting Hill in 1999.
