Charles Trenet

Charles Trenet (1913-2001) is one of the most iconic French singers of his era. Nicknamed “le fou chantant” (the singing madman) since the late 1930’s when he began his solo career, he made songs that are often playful and dynamic, but he also made some slower and more contemplative songs. Several of his songs were huge hots, and some of them (like La Mer) even gained an international popularity.
