Despite his very short career, Daniel Balavoine (1952-1986) was a very important singer and a big idol of the late 70’s and 80’s French music. He distinguished himself by his very powerful and sometimes high pitched voice, and his deep and socially engaged lyrics. Re was revealed in 1978 with his song “Le Chanteur”, and also, the same year, by the rock opera Starmania, written by Michel Berger (his friend) and Luc Plamendon, where he interpreted one of the main characters ; and then he wrote several huge hits.
