Les Chaussettes Noires
It’s in this rock and roll band (“the Black Socks” in English) that Claude Moine began his musical career, under the name of Eddy Mitchell. His stage name is a inspired by the American actor Eddy Constantine, quite popular in France at the time. This band (named in the beginning : The Five Rocks), along with their rivals Les Chats Sauvages (“the Wild Cats”), were among the ones who propelled rock to the center stage in France in the early 60’s. And with the success of his band, Eddy Mitchell became, along with people like Johnny Halliday and Dick Rivers, one of the main rock idols.

His solo career
Eddy Mitchell would keep this rock and roll influence throughout his career. Many of his songs are adaptated from rock and roll standards or make an allusion to rock and roll or American culture in general. If he’s not the first one that comes to mind when you think about French singers, he’s still a singer you have to listen to.
