Jean-Jacques Goldman

Jean-Jacques Goldman, born in Paris in 1951, is one of the most popular French singers. Litterally everybody knows him, even the youngest generation I think. He’s still alive today and even though he doesn’t sing anymore, he’s still the n°1 favorite personnality of French people in polls for the last few years. He’s also a composer and guitarist who comes from the rock universe but managed to . During his peak in the 80’s, he was probably the most successful singer in France. He made countless hits and also wrote some hits for other people. I had to make a choice between all of his songs, I chose the most successful and my favorites, so if you have a request, don’t hesitate 🙂

His own songs :

  • Il suffira d’un signe (his first hit, the song that launched his career)
  • Quand la musique est bonne
  • Comme toi
  • Envole-moi
  • Je marche seul
  • Je te donne (with Michael Jones)
  • Il changeait la vie

His songs with the band Fredericks-Goldman-Jones :

  • À nos actes manqués
  • Un, deux, trois
  • Nuit
  • Né en 17 à Leidenstadt
  • C’est pas d’l’amour

Songs he wrote for others :

  • La chanson des Enfoirés
  • Johnny Halliday : Laura
  • Johnny Halliday : L’envie
  • Céline Dion : J’irai où tu iras
  • Céline Dion : Pour que tu m’aimes encore

And as a bonus, the great work (in English) from his early band Taï Phong :

  • Sister Jane (their only big hit, but what a song !)
  • When it’s the season (a great track, where you really hear the power of his voice, and his early inspirations : I would say Robert Plant, Geddy Lee…)
