Véronique Sanson

Born in 1949, Véronique Sanson is a very original and iconic French singer. She belongs to the generation of singers who ended the “yé-yé” era and began to go in a new direction. She’s well-known especially for her peculiar way of singing and her powerful stage presence. After a few years sharing her life with the singer Michel Berger, she left him in the early 70’s for Stephen Stills, an American musician (Michel Berger would then marry France Gall : he definitely had a good taste). She moved to America and then produced most of her work in America with American musicians. It’s one of the only French artists who really had an opportunity to have a successful career internationally.

She also made an album of covers of Michel Berger songs, as a tribute to him a few years after his death. So if you like both of them you can check out her versions, and for the translations, you’ll find them on the Michel Berger page 😉
